Saturday 20 December 2014

Hello,

So it's almost Christmas which has come about really fast all of a sudden.  Here is a little Christmas offering, a Christmas Robin.  A little something I came up with for the time of year.
Have a great Christmas!

Saturday 18 October 2014

Hello,

So below is my latest illustration all about the food and sights of Sicily (well some of them anyway).  I have actually been there several years ago and very lovely it was too.  The food was delicious.  I was lucky enough to travel around most of the island which was amazing and very beautiful.  I've been wanting to draw some sort of food/culture map for a while so this seemed a good one for me to do.  I also really wanted to stick with a particular range of colours.  Once again I indulged in pattern and texture making which I always enjoy.  Hope you like it and have a great weekend!

Sunday 7 September 2014

Hello!

So another weekend is drawing to a close, far too quickly as usual!  It's been a busy one.  In the midst of it all I've finished another food illustration.  This one is based on what sounds like a really yummy recipe although I must say I haven't tried it....yet.  I loved working with the yellows of the lemons and contrasting them with the blacks and greys.  I've rarely used black in my work so this made a nice change for me.  I'm really enjoying drawing food and trying to make it look appealing!  Well I do like to eat good food :).
Have a good week!

Saturday 23 August 2014

Hello,

So here's what I've been working on just lately.  Firstly something pretty summery, strawberries growing and picked with cream.  Yes, still clinging on to summer!  I'm having a bit of a red and green obsession at the moment, I love the richness of the colours.  Apparently strawberries can be grown in a very small space, not that I've tried, I don't think I'm green fingered enough!
The second illustration is another of the fantasy landscapes that I like creating.  This time living in an apple land.
Have a good week :)

Sunday 20 July 2014

Hello,

So it's been a hot week here in London, and I've been drawing more summery food.  The colours remind me of summer and sunshine.  Hot pinks and yellows.  Let's hope for a sunny week!

Hello,

So another week has gone by in a bit of a whirl.  It's been pretty warm here in London (some of the time!) so summer is here.  Fittingly here's my latest piece of work a summery salad with Halloumi, one of the great yummy cheeses in my opinion.  Creating this meant using a more subdued palette than I'm used to which was a challenge for me and made a nice change.  I really wanted to keep it fresh and summery and as usual I had a lot of fun creating the patterns.
Have a nice week!

Hello,

The last week has flown by but has been busy and fun and there was plenty of time for drawing which has been great.  So here's my latest work all about the plight of the the bees and the threat pesticides are having on them, a sad subject.  It was lovely to work with some really bright and warm colours and as usual I loved to create all the textures.
It is so nice to sit writing this with the sun streaming through the window :)
Have a great week!

Sunday 22 June 2014

Hello,

So here's what I've been drawing just lately, fruit.  I really wanted to use lot's of rich warm colours which fits nicely with the lovely weather we've had here this weekend.  Plus I got to indulge in pattern making which I always enjoy.
Have a nice week!

Monday 26 May 2014

Hello,

So it's been a nice long busy weekend but full of fun things.  I managed to get to the Matisse exhibition at Tate Modern which was great to see.  I loved looking at all the layering that took place in so many of the collages.  Something which you don't get to appreciate unless you see them in the flesh.
So here's my latest work.  I wanted to work with restricted colour on this one and stick with mainly blues.  I really enjoy all the pattern and line work and I love creating fantasy plants and trees.  I think something maybe lurking in the bushes :).
Bye for now!

Monday 14 April 2014

Hello,

So I've been drawing food again which has been very enjoyable.  So first up is the savoury dish.  I have actually made this and very nice it was too (although i made the veggie sausage version, minus the bacon).  I enjoyed using the really rich reds and browns, different colours from those I have been using just lately.  Plus, adding the decorative elements and creating textures was (as always) fun for me.

So next are these cookies, Cranberry and Oat.  I haven't made these but as far as I'm concerned anything containing oats can only be good!

That's all for now, have a good week! :)

Sunday 6 April 2014

Hello,

So at this time of year in England it is spring, yay!  So on some days out comes the sun, it's a little warmer, there is a lovely blue sky, you notice everything growing again and everyone gets excited about the prospect of lovely long days ahead.....Today however the sun has taken a break somewhere else....so it's colder and grey, boo!  Still I'm sure this will not last! :)  Anyway, here is my latest work based on the theme of spring, I hope you like it.  I had fun doing all the pen work, a material I don't usually use and I really like the vibrancy of the marks.  Have a good day!

Sunday 9 March 2014

Hello,

It's been the first really lovely weekend of the year, sun all the way and it really feels like spring has arrived in London :).  As soon as March arrives I always get pretty excited anyway, as for me it really means the beginning of (hopefully) better weather, and you really start to see everything begin to grow again.  Anyway, here's my latest piece of work, not very springlike but (hopefully) can be more of a farewell to winter!  It was originally inspired by a winter walk I did but the colour scheme changed quite dramatically from what I originally had planned when the idea first came along.  I worked on this for quite sometime before I was happy enough with it.  Sometimes it's like that.  I did have a lot of fun with all the shapes, line work and the textures.  Anyway I hope you enjoy, and if you had sunshine this weekend enjoyed that too!  Bye for now :)

Thursday 6 February 2014

Hello,

So I've been drawing more food.  This time of the savoury variety.  This is another one of my concoctions which i love eating.  What I love food wise often gets a mixed reaction by people I know, so maybe I have strange tastebuds.....or maybe not......but anyway, I'm the one eating it! :).  So I love the luscious colours of an aubergine and I had a lot of fun as usual making textures and patterns with the ingredients.  I'm enjoying drawing what is different subject matter for me and I have a lot of other food related ideas bouncing around in my head.  In the meantime I hope you enjoy this piece.
Bye for now!

Saturday 18 January 2014

Hello, so here we are mid way through January already.  It's the time of year when people are possibly still sticking to their new years resolutions combined with it being cold and wet (well here in London it has been anyway....err no change there then!)......so in keeping with that here's a recipe filled with goodness!  I've been wanting to draw more food related things for a while and I love porridge, made well of course, with a bit of attention, and the raspberries just give it a bit of an edge.    So I had a lot of fun creating this piece, playing around with shapes and patterns, creating textures and colouring.  Of course I had to keep testing out the recipe :).  I hope you enjoy!
